Visit My Work at the American Craft Council Show in San Francisco

I always love doing conferences in San Francisco. It's so great to give and get support from fellow artists, and gallerists, and to see new, exciting work -- I feel like San Francisco trips have been particularly vibrant.

Unfortunately, because of the million things going on this summer and fall, I won't be able to make the trip out to the American Craft Council Show in San Francisco this year, from August 8 to 10, at the Fort Mason Center, and open to the public!

But it's open to the public, and my work will be there, along with the work of so many of my amazing colleagues in the art community. I highly recommend a trip if you're nearby!

Awesomely, you'll be able to visit the Artful Home/Jiun Ho Showcase, where they're kind enough to be featuring some of my work. Artful Home is a super-wonderful retailer with whom I've been working for years, and Jiun Ho is a major interior decorator in the Bay Area.

New AD IDEM Rings: Installment #3 - BURL Edition

Sometimes a tree grows in the regular way. And sometimes it grows a burl. For the most part, it happens in response to some kind of trauma: the tree's cells divide in a wild manner, making beautiful aberrations. Like humans, trees can emerge stronger after the slights of the world.

These new AD IDEM rings feature slices of burl: let's always have room in our lives to honor the special, the weird, the unexpected. As artmakers and as people we must open up to the world's possibilities!

New AD IDEM Rings: Installment #2

All AD IDEM, all the time, as of late. These three one-of-a-kind rings are made of hickory--the remnants of bent wood from my bracelets--inlaid with purpleheart and rosewood. 

These rings honor the joining, the ethics and honesty of woodworking. I look to the tradition of Japanese joinery, particularly: elements measured, cut, planed, and sanded in a precise manner. Here I'm celebrating the idea of this elegant function as minimalist adornment. 

March 29 Photoshoot

My assistant and I pulled a photo shoot together in one day last Thursday! I don't know how we did it! The results, however, are stunning!

I realized I have not been putting my work in context on the human body. I think seeing the work functioning as an object will help viewers to understand the extent of the work. 

I am extremely grateful to Tom Petroff and Carolina Reyes for being so flexible! A huge "Thank you!" to each of them for sharing their talents and working very hard to complete the project.
